The second CPL semi final takes place on Tuesday and it features the Guyana Amazon Warriors and the St Lucia Zouks.
By the time this game is played, we will know the winner of the first semi final, so when stepping onto the field, these players will know who stands in between them and the CPL trophy.
Road to the Semi Finals
If you look at the group stage of this tournament then you will see that this should be a very close game. These two teams finished with exactly the same record of six wins and four defeats from 10 games.
However, they accumulated those a little differently. The Zouks flew out of the blocks and led for a short while before fading towards the end. The Warriors started slowly and then came to life towards the end of the group stage.
Based on that, although the standings show these two teams finished with the same, the recent form of the Warriors puts them in a better position.
Warriors Team News & Form
The Warriors haven’t played since last Thursday due to the schedule, however they could not have finished the season better.
Three games in three days from Tuesday to Thursday was not ideal but they came away with three excellent victories, a perfect confidence booster for the team.
One of those came against the Zouks, Shimron Hetmyer scored 56 not out in the game and the bowlers restricted the Zouks to just 109. It was an impressive performance at the right time for the Warriors.
Zouks Team News & Form
Qualifying for the semi finals is an achievement itself for the Zouks, they have overachieved this season and it has been great to see.
They’ve struggled a little as the group stage came to an end, but a win on Sunday against the Jamaica Tallawahs will have given them a little confidence back.
What they must do, if they want to have any chance here, is bat better than they did last Wednesday against the Warriors.
Nicholas Pooran hasn’t really been able to get going over the past three games but he is a big player for the big occasion, and he is our tip to be the key man here and take his team to victory.
When on his game, Pooran is one of the biggest hitters in the world, he can score quickly and put the opposing bowlers under pressure, exactly what we expect from him on Tuesday.
Our betting tip is that the Guyana Amazon Warriors will win this game and make the final on Thursday.
This is a team who are peaking at exactly the right moment, just when they need to shine. They have some top quality players in their line up who all have big game experience, so playing in a semi final won’t phase them at all.
Choose your favourite betting site, because in the second CPL semi final, we are backing the Guyana Amazon Warriors to win.
