We are at the knockout stage of the IPL and just four teams have a chance of winning the trophy this year. The Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals battle it out on Thursday in the first qualifier, followed by this game between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday.
The winner of this game will head into the second qualifying game, which takes place on Sunday and puts them against the loser of the first qualifier. The winner will then play in the IPL final, on Tuesday.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Team News & Form
The Sunrisers Hyderabad come here after finishing 3rd in the regular season standings. They only finished there thanks to having a better run rate than both the Challengers who finished 4th and the Knight Riders who finished 5th, all three had 14 points to finish.
Not only that, but the Sunrisers come here in form, they have won their last three games. The Chennai Super Kings, who have failed to qualify, are the only other team to win their last three.
David Warner has led the team with the bat, scoring over 500 runs from 14 games and he’s been backed up by Jonny Bairstow and Manish Pandey who have both scored over 300.
With the ball, look for spin bowler Rashid Khan who has 19 wickets so far, the youngster has a range of special balls he can deliver to deceive the batsmen.
Royal Challengers Bangalore Team News & Form
Can Virat Kohli finally lead the team from Bangalore to an IPL title?
Despite losing their last four games, the Challengers have made it through to the knockout round, only on run rate though. They simply have to be better if they want to reach the final, after a good early run, this team has been brought back down to earth.
Kohli is closing in on 500 runs alongside Devdutt Padikkal, while AB de Villiers has nearly 400 too, showing this team is more than capable with the bat.
When it comes to wickets, look no further than Yuzvendra Chahal who has 20 in the IPL so far. On their day, the Challengers are certainly strong but they have not shown us that for a few games now.
With a star man in form and at the top of the order, a team can get off to a great start and make big early inroads. David Warner is that man for the Sunrisers Hyderabad and he is chosen by us to be the star man here.
Warner has over 500 runs so far, his team arrives in good form and he is taken to lead them on Friday.
These two teams are both very good and when you see they were split by run rate only during the group stage games, it is clear how tight this could be. The bookmakers are also in agreement it seems, with the odds for each team winning the game being very similar.
However, the Sunrisers come here in great form while the Challengers are struggling to show their true colours right now.
With that in mind, our betting tip is for the Royal Challengers Bangalore to win this game.
