The Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings go head to head in the IPL on Thursday in Abu Dhabi.
These two teams both have the ability to go far in this tournament, and are potential winners at the moment.
However, they will feel that the start could have gone better, both have two wins on the board so far.
Things will get better for one of the teams, read our preview below where we have our IPL tip for this game.
Kolkata Knight Riders Team News & Form
It has been a real mixed bag from the Knight Riders so far. They struggled with the bat in their opener, then put up two very good performances to win two games, before struggling with the ball in their most recent game.
On their day, there is no doubt this team can compete but so far consistency has been an issue.
After breaking the record for an international contract in the IPL, much was expected of Australian seamer Pat Cummins, but that hasn’t come so far with just two wickets in four games.
With the bat, Eoin Morgan, Shubman Gill and Nitish Rana have been excellent, but there has been a lack of support from elsewhere in the team for them.
Something is needed to bring this team together and get them firing.
Chennai Super Kings Team News & Form
The Super Kings won the IPL opener against the current champions Mumbai before three losses in a row.
They then bounced back at the weekend, winning in impressive style against the Kings XI. This team has a lot of quality, but they are very similar to Kolkata in the fact that they need to find consistency.
Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis put together an unbeaten stand of 181 to beat the Kings XI without losing a wicket, that is more of what they need from their two experienced openers.
Sam Curran has impressed with the ball, getting five wickets so far, while Piyush Chawla has six to his name.
This is a team with talent, one that has shown their capabilities, but we now need to see that more.
With the Knight Riders looking a little out of form with the bat, we are picking English seamer Sam Curran to be the star man for Chennai in this game.
He comes here with five wickets to his name so far, and can cause problems for the leading lights on the Kolkata team.
Known as a confidence bowler, he should have no problem being fired up against this line up and he is tipped to play well here.
Both teams have the ability not only to win this game but also to compete well and potentially win the IPL.
However, consistency is a huge problem for both teams.
After an excellent performance at the weekend, our tip is for the Chennai Super Kings to back that up and win again on Wednesday, with a good bowling performance from Sam Curran helping that.
