The second game of our IPL Saturday double header features the Chennai Super Kings and the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
These two are both struggling for consistency at the moment and come here on the back of a defeat in their most recent game.
Things are very tight at the moment in the standings, but these are two important points that are up for grabs in the last game on Saturday.
Chennai Super Kings Team News & Form
It has been a real up and down start for the Super Kings. They won their opener then went three games without a win, followed by a win and then a loss.
At their best, the Super Kings have looked to be one of the best teams in the tournament, though at their worst they don’t look capable of even reaching the knockout stage.
Shane Watson and Faf de Plessis put on a memorable stand to beat the Kings XI without losing a wicket last weekend, the Super Kings would love something similar here.
They were good with the ball in their most recent defeat, bowling out the Kolkata Knight Riders but failed to follow that up with the bat. Watson scored well again with 50 from 40 balls but it was a struggle for the rest of the team, leaving them 10 runs short of the total set.
Royal Challengers Bangalore Team News & Form
The story painted for the Super Kings is very similar to that we have seen from Bangalore so far.
Their most recent game was a defeat to the Delhi Capitals, and it was a game in which their batsmen failed to fire. Virat Kohli scored 43 but it was slow and came off 39 balls. Elsewhere, no one scored over 20, with players getting started and then failing to build on that.
The bowling struggled too, with three bowlers going for over 10 runs per over, including Navdeep Saini, who was hit for 48 runs from just three overs.
If the Challengers want to push forward, both areas of their game need to improve.
We can go with no one else here other than Shane Watson, who has been excellent in his past two games, and in the tournament overall too.
He’s scoring big, getting the innings off to a good start and with some suspect bowling from the opposition, we are betting that Shane Watson will again get some big runs on the board in this game.
There are fewer batsmen out there with the experience that Watson has and so far we are seeing him put that to good use.
Neither team is at their best at the moment, but aspect of what the Chennai Super Kings have done has been good, and they are our betting prediction to win this game.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore are really struggling to get going with both the bat and ball and that can lead to another defeat here, with Shane Watson leading the way for the Super Kings.
