Last year’s winners of the IPL, the Mumbai Indians, are right in contention for the title once more it seems after a very good start to the new season.
The same cannot be said about the Chennai Super Kings, currently bottom of the standings and in desperate need of a quick turnaround.
Despite having a strong partnership at the top of the order and experience elsewhere, the Super Kings have just three wins from 10 games, and are currently off the pace in terms of reaching the knockout round.
These two go head to head on Friday and we have our thoughts, plus a betting tip below.
Chennai Super Kings Team News & Form
Individually, the Super Kings haven’t fared too badly, though overall their team performance has been poor.
Faf du Plessis is closing in on 400 tournament runs, an exceptional figure from just 10 games played, fellow opener Shane Watson is edging towards 300 himself.
With the ball is where this team have struggled, Sam Curran and Deepak Chahar lead the way with 10 wickets, but by now the top teams all have someone closing in on 20 wickets.
There is little depth behind these two either, something the Mumbai Indians will be looking to take advantage of here.
Mumbai Indians Team News & Form
By keeping together many of the players that won the IPL title last season, the Mumbai Indians were always going to be a strong challenger this season and they are backing that up right now.
Contrary to what the Super Kings have done with the ball, the Indians have been excellent.
Led by Jasprit Bumrah, he has 15 wickets while Trent Boult has 12, Rahul Chahar has 11 and James Pattinson has 9.
Quinton de Kock has been the stand out star with the bat so far, scoring 320 runs overall, while captain Rohit Sharma is one of many others to score well, he has 260 runs in total.
With the Super Kings struggling with the ball we fancy a Mumbai players to excel and put big runs on the board.
Quinton de Kock is the chosen key man for us, we are expecting him to go well here and take advantage of this below par bowling attack that the Super Kings have.
They are struggling to take wickets and also conceding runs, this could be a long day for the Chennai bowlers and the betting sites have reflected this with their odds.
The Chennai Super Kings have not been at their best so far in the competition and our best cricket betting tip for this game is for the Mumbai Indians to win.
They have a far better bowling line up and that is going to be the key here, we fancy the Mumbai bowlers to take wickets, while the Chennai bowlers look like struggling.
With Quinton de Kock leading the way with the bat, we have chosen the Mumbai Indians to continue their title challenge and come out on top in this game on Friday.
