The Barbados Tridents take on the Guyana Amazon Warriors on Thursday in the second game of the CPL 2020 that day, and this is a game that could have huge consequences.
These two meet on Tuesday, then the Warriors have to also play on Wednesday too, meaning three games in three days for them.
Both are hoping to reach the semi finals of this competition and the two games against each other on Tuesday and Thursday could decide who makes it and who doesn’t.
Tridents Team News & Form
At the start of this week, the Tridents begin things in 5th position, if they remain there, they will be going home after the group stage of this tournament.
They have three games to go, these two against the Warriors followed by one against the Tallawahs at the weekend.
The Tridents were in action twice over the weekend and disappointingly they lost both games. They came against the current leaders of the CPL, Trinbago and the surprise package so far, St Lucia.
This week won’t be easy for them either, Guyana are slowly coming to hand and playing some great cricket.
Young spinner Rashid Khan has been excellent so far, a big push is needed this week and with he pitches offering assistance to the spin bowlers, he will be the man to take the Tridents forward.
Warriors Team News & Form
The Warriors certainly have the toughest schedule of those who are chasing down a semi final spot right now. Three games remain and they play them in three days, this is the last of those.
Tuesday sees them play the Tridents for the first time, followed by a game against the Zouks and lastly this one.
They have really improved and come into the tournament recently, playing three in three days is tough but it could come at the perfect time for them, they are in good form.
A huge win over the Patriots on Sunday kept them on the right track and Nicholas Pooran was their star man, scoring the first 100 of the tournament. Not only that, but he finished 100 not out from just 45 deliveries.
We have to go with Nicholas Pooran to strike again here. We have been waiting for him to shine in this team and also waiting for the first 100 to be scored, he brought both at the weekend.
On his day, he can hit as well and as hard as anyone, he is our tip to be the key man and do it again here.
By the time this game comes around on Thursday, it could be huge.
It is the last chance for the Warriors to pick up points and with others playing over the weekend, they may need some to make sure of their spot in the semi finals.
The Warriors team we are watching right now is different to that we saw at the start, they have really grown into the tournament and they are our betting tip to win this game and progress.
